Summary of the Townsville Hospital and Health Board Meeting held 15 November 2021 and Board activities in the reporting period

The Townsville Hospital and Health Board (THHB) met on 15 November 2021 at the Ingham Health Service, Hinchinbrook Shire. The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Michelle Morton and attended by eight members of the Board.
The Board received updates from the Board Committees which met in reporting period, including:
- Board Finance Committee
- Board Safety and Quality Committee
- Board Stakeholder an Engagement Committee
- Board Executive Committee
The Board received a regular Executive Report and Performance Report from the Health Service Chief Executive.
The Board received updates on key focus areas, which included:
- An update on the response to COVID-19 operational requirements.
- A discussion paper on workforce sustainability, inclusive of the impacts of COVID-19 related border restrictions on recruitment.

Representatives of the Board participated in several key meetings and events in the reporting period (mid-October to mid-November), these included but were not limited:
- Queensland Health and Hospital Board Chair’s forum
- Queensland Health’s COVID-19 System Leadership Forum

Summary of the Townsville Hospital and Health Board Meeting held 18 October 2021 and Board activities in the reporting period

The Townsville Hospital and Health Board (THHB) met on 18 October 2021 at the Townsville University Hospital. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tony Mooney AM and attended by nine members of the Board.
The Board received updates from the Board Committees which met in reporting period, including:
- Board Finance Committee
- Board Audit and Risk Committee
- Board Executive Committee
The Board received a regular Executive Report and Performance Report from the Health Service Chief Executive.
The Board received updates on key focus areas, which included:
- An update on the response to COVID-19 operational requirements.
- An update on the development of a local implementation plan for Queensland Health’s First Nation’s Health Equity Strategy.

Summary of the Townsville Hospital and Health Board Meeting held 20 September 2021 and Board activities in the reporting period

The Townsville Hospital and Health Board (THHB) met on 20 September 2021 at the Richmond Shire Council in Richmond, Queensland. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tony Mooney AM and attended by seven members of the Board (six in person and one via Microsoft Teams).
The meeting was followed by a site visit to the Richmond Multipurpose Health Service and a business luncheon with key stakeholders from the region.
The Board received updates from the Board Committees which met in reporting period, including:
- Board Finance Committee
- Board Safety and Quality Committee
- Board Stakeholder Engagement Committee
- Board Executive Committee
The Board received a regular Executive Report and Performance Report from the Health Service Chief Executive.
The Board received updates on key focus areas, which included:
- Preparation for the NSQHS safety and quality accreditation assessment scheduled for October 2021.
- Queensland Health’s system refocusing
- Strategic approach to ensuring financial sustainability

- Length-of-service award ceremonies for THHS staff

Summary of the Townsville Hospital and Health Board Meeting held 16 August 2021 and Board activities in the reporting period

The Townsville Hospital and Health Board (THHB) met on 16 August 2021 at the Cambridge Street Health Campus in Vincent, Townsville. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tony Mooney AM and attended by nine members of the Board.
The Board received updates from the Board Committees which met in reporting period, including:
- Board Finance Committee
- Board Audit and Risk Committee
- Board Executive Committee
The Board received a regular Executive Report and Performance Report from the Health Service Chief Executive.
The Board received updates on key focus areas, which included:
- Strategic and Operational Planning update
- An update on the Level 1 South Block project (33 bed acute medical receiving ward) which is currently in design phase.
- The finalisation of the FY20/21 Financial Statements
The Board received a briefing on the services provided from the Cambridge Street Campus. The Board also met with some of the staff who manage the delivery of almost 90 per cent of mental health services provided by the THHS via community outreach programs and care in the home treatment models.

The Townsville Hospital and Health Board (THHB) met on 19 July 2021 at the Townsville University Hospital. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tony Mooney AM and attended by nine members of the Board.
The Board received updates from the Board Committees which met in reporting period, including:
- Board Finance Committee
- Board Safety and Quality Committee
- Board Stakeholder Engagement Committee

The Board received a regular Executive Report and Performance Report from the Health Service Chief Executive.

- A regular update on the THHS managed COVID-19 Vaccination program.
- Further discussion on the 2021 2022 budget and Department of Health Service Level Agreement offer.
- A review of health system priorities for 2021 and 2022.

- NAIDOC events unaffected by the snap COVID-19 shut down.

The Townsville Hospital and Health Board (THHB) met on 21 June 2021 at the Townsville University Hospital. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tony Mooney AM and attended by nine members of the Board.
The Board received updates from the Board Committees which met in reporting period, including:

The Board received a regular Executive Report and Performance Report from the Health Service Chief Executive.
The Board received updates on key focus areas, which included:
- A regular update on the THHS managed COVID-19 Vaccination program.
- An update on the Palm Island Primary Healthcare services transition to community control.
- A detailed discussion on the 2021 2022 budget and Department of Health Service Level Agreement offer.
The Board welcomed the reappointment of Michelle Morton commensurate 10 June 2021.
The Board commended fellow member, Professor Ajay Rane on his Queensland Great Award.

The Townsville Hospital and Health Board (THHB) held its first meeting of 2021 on 15 February 2021 at the Townsville University Hospital. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Tony Mooney and attended by eight members of the Board.
The Board received updates from the committees which met in November 2020, including:
- Board Finance Committee
- Board Safety and Quality Committee
- Board Executive Committee
The Board received a regular Executive Report and Performance Report from the Health Service Chief Executive.
The Board received updates on key focus areas, which included:
- Operational readiness for the COVID-19 vaccination roll out
- Research capabilities and funding sources
- An update on the transition of primary care services to community control
- An update on the strategy for healthcare provision in older persons in North Queensland
Board activities
Representatives of the Board participated in several key meetings and events in December 2020 and January 2021, these included but were not limited to:
- Community stakeholder Christmas events
- Palm Island Health Governance Group meeting
- JCU 50-year Celebrations
- Consumer Advisory Council meeting

The Board and THHS Executive hosted the Minister for Health, Yvette D’Ath at the Townsville University Hospital on 27 January 2021. Minister D’Ath visited the emergency department, launched a Safer Baby Bundle and met with intern doctors.
