Townsville Health Library

The Townsville Health Library offers access to a range of services and information to enhance the provision of patient care, research and continuing education for Townsville Hospital and Health Service staff as well as for James Cook University staff and students (from third year) and students on placement.

The Library is located on the first floor of Townsville University Hospital overlooking the main entrance. Swipe card 24 hours access for staff and fifth and sixth year JCU medical students.

The library offers:

• Expert assistance for reference and database searching in support of evidence-based practice
• Training in literature searching and using EndNote reference manager
• SPSS and Nvivo
• Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loans for patient care and research
• An online library catalogue of local and statewide QH library resources
• Loans of up to 10 books for a four-week period
• Self-checkout kiosk
• 17 computers and 10 laptops with internet access (Novell login required)
• Three collaboration rooms
• Study carrels
• Wi-fi access and desk charging ports for phones and devices
• Photocopying and scanning facilities
• Daily newspapers – The Australian/The Courier Mail/Townsville Bulletin
