Angus Smith Drive diversion

Published: 05 August 2024

Entry to Townsville University Hospital from Angus Smith Drive will be temporarily diverted from 5 August as works progress on the $530 million expansion of Townsville University Hospital.

This work is important to the early stages to deliver a 143-bed clinical building at the site of the current helipad and is a pivotal step in building the future of healthcare for north Queensland.

Will entry into the hospital still be accessible from Angus Smith Drive?

Will it take longer to get into the hospital?

Is there an alternative entry point to the hospital?

Will there be any changes to bus or taxi drop-off points?

What should people riding bicycles or e-scooters do?

How long will the diversion be in place?
