Our more than $600 million health expansion
The Townsville Hospital and Health Service is set to be a hive of activity from late 2023 through to 2026 as we bring plans to life to build the future of healthcare for the north Queensland community.
The Townsville region is predicted to grow more than 30 per cent over the next 20 years. With thousands more expected to call the region home in the next decades demand for health services will continue.
A number of expansion and redevelopment projects are planned, or underway, to develop a stronger public health service for north Queenslanders.
Townsville University Hospital expansion
A major $530 million expansion of Townsville University Hospital will build a new multi-storey clinical building and deliver a bigger and better hospital with more health services to cater to the growing community.
Kirwan Health Campus expansion
A $45.2 million expansion and redevelopment of the Kirwan Health Campus will include the development of a new two-storey facility and a refurbishment of the existing buildings.
Townsville University Hospital hybrid theatre
This multi-million-dollar project will deliver a state-of-the-art hybrid operating theatre at Townsville University Hospital.
Townsville University Hospital outpatient department
Townsville University Hospital's outpatient services will be expanded to increase clinical space and broaden the scope of services offered.
