How do I access information?
Information held by Townsville HHS facilities can be accessed a number of ways depending on the type of information you are looking for.
Information held by Townsville HHS is commonly accessed through the following avenues:
Administrative access- accessing your health record
If you are looking for your own medical record is can usually be done through administrative access. This means you don’t have to go through a formal application under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI) or Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP) acts.

Publication scheme
Our publication scheme describes and categorises information routinely available. It has been developed to give the community greater access to information held by the Townsville HHS. For more information, please refer to our publication scheme page.
Disclosure log
Our disclosure log provides information in response to non-personal information requests made under the Right to Information Act 2009.
With some exceptions, current and former employees are entitled to access their own employee records through an administrative process.
If you have been unable to find what you are looking on our website, please contact the release of information unit who will advise whether it can be released administratively. Applying for information
If you are seeking access to information not limited to your own personal information that is not available in our publication scheme, disclosure log or by administrative access schemes you should apply under the Right to Information Act 2009. If you are seeking access to documents limited to your own personal information, you can apply under the Information Privacy Act 2009.
Privacy and confidentiality
As a health agency, we are bound by statutory obligations contained in the Information Privacy Act 2009, the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 which all require strict adherence to privacy and confidentiality provisions.
