Work starts on multi-million-dollar expansion at Kirwan Health Campus

Work has started on a $45.2m expansion of the Kirwan Health Campus with Townsville-based contractor Paynters selected to complete the project after the original head contractor went into voluntary administration.

The new two-storey Green Star-certified building will deliver enhanced specialist services to the campus, including pre-natal and post-natal care, oral health, and additional outpatient treatment spaces.

Further works will include minor refurbishments to the existing community facility, including an expansion to the café seating area, air-conditioning chiller replacement, and a partial acoustic ceiling tile replacement along with a new carpark for staff and visitors.

Weather permitting, the carpark is scheduled for completion before June 2025, with the new campus and community facility refurbishments to be finished by the first half of 2026.
